One Billion Rising is a global campaign to end violence against women. By engaging girls and boys, women and men from around the world in dance, the campaign rallies communities to engage in meaningful discussion about the treatment of and role of women worldwide and provides a concrete way for them to take action through movement each year on February 14. The girls at Carondelet have participated for the past two years.
Global Nomads Group This organization is committed to creating 21st century global citizens. Global Nomads does this by connecting classrooms across the world through technology. A great resource for teachers looking to establish a meaningful, global classroom partnership.

iEARN This non-profit works to connect classrooms around the world. This organization’s network of 30,000+ schools offers teachers many opportunities to partner with global classrooms. There is a fee for the service and teachers choose partners based on a decision to work on a particular service learning project.

ePals This business connects students with pen-pals in a safe and easy way. With roots in over 200 countries, ePals is a great way to give students the “real” experience of written, global exchange. What a great way to bring the world into the classroom!

Collaborations Around the Planet (Capspace) CAPSpace provides teachers with a forum to engage in collaborative videoconferencing. With more than 14,000 teachers from more than 50 countries, the CAPSpace community allows teachers to advertise for partners to work on ideas-based projects.

The Fullbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, sends U.S. teachers abroad to take classes at universities and observe classrooms to strengthen understanding among teachers worldwide.,

Teachers for Global Classrooms is the best professional development program out there! This year-long program trains teachers from around the country to be leaders in global education. The program culminates in an in-country field experience. In the past, teachers have traveled to Morocco, Ghana, India, Colombia, Russia, and the Philippines.

Volunteers for Peace connects service-minded adults, teens, and families with humanitarian projects around the world. Their website allows you to search for the service project perfect for your skill set, wallet, and calendar.
